Beautiful Dirty Rick

I felt that this year, the whole Eid celebration feels like nothing. Perhaps, the excitement comes due to the fact that I'm not staying home which is perhaps almost 434km away.

I just came back from a celebration by Bachelor's student Managerial Communication class event. It was their assignment but I guess it was fun as the Eid celebration comes to live a little bit with the excitement around friends. Obviously I end up bloated now, which defeats the whole purpose of me running on treadmill and bunch of other machines earlier today before heading to The Gardens.

I love stationary and art shop. Not that I'm an artist, but it always nice to see creative things raw. The I would start imagining things that could come alive next, and also those funky party packs and DIY stuffs. The one I always shop at seemed to be really friendly and I'm happy with their services though they don't have any cutting service for mounting boards.

Its amazing to see how drastic Celebrity Fitness taking over California Fitness. While working on some machines there was some shooting of fitness talk show which I have no idea what show it actually is, what tv it will end up on and when it will be aired. It seemed very ASTRO-ish. Its a big challenge to start again from 0 after more than 6 weeks of idle. I got myself back on track after feeling too loose and lazy while I'm always happier to be fit. A month of fasting and a week of gastronomical indulgence ruined it all.

At present, I only know few bloggers who goes there such as Ikram, Eric and even activist Marina Mahathir. The two guys goes usually after working hour while Marina usually go in the morning.

I was on my way waiting for the shuttle bus by the highway when the big major earthquake happened in South of Sumatra. Earlier on, I was watching on CNN while running on treadmill about tsunami that struck over Samoan Islands where 55 perished in Samoa and another 22 in American Samoa. The number rose to 89 as according to The New York Times by now.

My prayers be with the victim and the survivors. On the other hand Typhoon Ketsana are hitting hard on Indochina and the Philippines. Hopefully people will survive, or at least most than some.

After spending mere hour in Borders browsing through Parenting and Advertising sections I'm still rather hungry for ideas on how to create awareness of a baby chair, without the baby chair in the advertisement poster. Do suggest if you happen to have ideas.

Please, and thank you.

Map of the Problematique

I'm officially a procrastinator extraordinaire, again.

I have a final project due in 12 hours and only a mere 60% complete. It feels only mere quarter than that. I can't concentrate nor even continue due to the inefficiency of my fellow group mates whom can't ever complete a task coherently, or at least in a satisfying manner. Ironically the topic is about Human Resource which my father just retired from the same industry after about 10-20 years? Well, he's about 400km away and we have unique and limited conversation skills with one another.

Then the other work. Designing stuff. Yikes. I have the idea on my mind (is it on, or in?) and I just can't work it out on it just yet. Its annoying. Like an obstacle blocking me from starting it. Why on bloody earth must Communication students be tortured with such agony? I've always thought corporate life is very wordy more or less, twisting.

I've been enjoying several outing recently or as you may review if you happen to be friends with me on Facebook and survived the long pending friends requests I've been trying to ignore on neither Acceptor/Ignore button. Pardon me, I'm slightly choosy too on this because it became a habit; like collecting stamps and postcards I once indulged.

I'm rather perturb at this moment with my work while being distracted with Huffington and ideas. Brain candy, I'm telling you.

I should resume now, rather than updating my life to the world with whining.

Pick Up Off The Floor

I am back in the city.

I am trapped in the campus due to limited shuttle bus availability.

I need to study.

Leo Burnett made this. I need to get inspired.
[credit to LeoBurnett and Google Images]

Worse, I need to complete a group presentation slide, a final project assignment, a flyer and poster ads design all in less than 72 hours.

My exam is just too soon.

Raya/Eid feast celebration should not be an excuse but it is.

I came back to the city by late noon with Aeroline bus arriving in Corus Hotel and quickly headed to Sentral by 1something, back in college by 2something and left to Bangsar by 6something. Waited for the world most unprofitable inefficient train system for almost 45 minutes before arriving in Madam Kwan's in Bangsar around 7something for Lolo's farewell before he leaves to Ireland and become another amazing doctor.

Survive the rush in Carrefour around 10something for late, last minute grocery of getting Breeze and Vanish (suggestion by TheAmazingFashionGuru new friend of mine on getting off stain on white clothes) plus Prune Sunsweet, Omega Eggs and marble cake [for no apparent reason!]. Got back in college by 12somethingAM since there's only 10AM;6PM;11PM limited cycle for shuttle bus. Had snack with Iba and Dessy the Jem Tart cookie mum made.

Celcom gone mad. Broadband not working. Pfft.

I'm being too detailed here. Pardon me.

This is Louis Vuitton. iWant.

This is Converse. iWant, too.

I'm going crazy too now. Too much of Buddha Bar now and addicted to very catchy tune of The Boy Who Knows Too Much. [Note:<3]You need to listen to this shiznit its amazing I love it.

Kthnxbye.

Pause The Tragic Ending

Warning: This is a holiday mood spoiler. Not yours really, just mine.

As I was gleefully lazing myself during this festive season, I began to realize the jumbled up piling works that have been ticking my mind. I realize that I have a print ad and flyer to design, a presentation, two reports and God knows what else are being delayed this moment.

Then I saw my friend's Facebook status, stating she was unhappy to see her exam timetable. Quickly, I went to click on the page where the unfortunate agenda of the doomed resides. Then without even scrolling anywhere, I saw Principle of Management is the first on the list.

5-10-2009
8.45am-10.45am.

*Grab pillow and screeamm*

I began to hunt my other subjects; Human Communication on the same day at 2.15pm until 4.15pm.

Next, Desktop Publishing on the following day at 8.45am-10.45am.

*slaps forehead*

Grammar II, Wednesday 7th October; 8.45am-10.45am.

Customer Relations, Thursday 8th October; 8.45am-10.45am.

I can say goodbye to the conference and flight watching in Jerejak Island.

My life is somewhat over. Considering the fact that I'm such a nocturnal breed who doesn't wake up anytime before 11am I should start worrying about that as well. Plus with the bundle of works delayed I really need to get back on track. And plus, I have not started studying on anything therefore I basically am almost, rather, more or less, in trouble.

Look at the brighter side, I have breaks from October 9th until November 15th. That's like 5 weeks of break. This never happens as most semester breaks last a week and the longest would be between 2-3 weeks. Yippee.

No Christmas For Me

The journey home wasn't smooth at all. The ATM machine by the CIMB ate my Islamic account card and now I have to wait for it to be sent to home branch in Queensbay for a week or two. By the time the card comes home, I will be back in KL. Stoopid, isn't it?

Patient, patient. Only a day left of Ramadan.

As I boarded the flight, I went in later and did not act kiasu and just waited for everyone goes in. However, much to my disappointment of earlier unfortunate event I was given a window seat as requested but did not notice it was odd number.

It was 7F.

In most flights, odd numbers by the window don't exactly have any window. Pfft. And as I settled down a lady came and smooshed her bag over my boxes of Krispy Kreme. Then after removing my doughnuts and put it under the seat the lady was asked to move to another seat since she was only on standby ticket. I was still unhappy (thankfully not angry) with her snubby attitude and was surprised that she was moved into Business Class.

Double Pfft.

What it matters so much to me? Well, I'm a travel enthusiast and a huge fan of the local airline with the glitz and glams. So it did pinch me a bit.

Irregardless, I stayed for a bit and went out from the flight as the last person because I like to thank all the flight attendant for their services either it was good or bad. I headed home to be wit home with my beloved family and cat. All the other cats have gone, except one white and aging cat named Ben. Its all good to be home.

Anyway, I should forget all the little things that annoyed me over the last hours and be merry for this joyous holiday feast.

Eid Mubarak, Salam Lebaran, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Maaf zahir batin. Pardon my sin and wrongdoings, forget the past and move forward for future.

Be safe on when you travel this festive season. Remember, its time to celebrate not to be in funerals!

Love you all!! =D

Singing In The Rain

Its not entirely a rainy day, in fact its still hot. I'm not in any good or bad mood but rather in confusion. The only word to describe the feeling is probably, Bleh.

Currently I'm at the Observation Deck in KUL - the main airport, heading home to the great island with ™ sign, PEN. At least I could enjoy one of the only few things that could satisfy my desire to fly; which happens to be another dilemma for the future, which I will explain some other time.

I've been having sudden train of thoughts lately on realizing who the people around me are. They consist of almost everyone from different backgrounds and identity and believes and social circles. I realized, its something since from high school that keeps disturbing me. I could usually feel not belonged in any, and rather a mingler who hops around like a bunny.

Bleh, I should not talk about this now and be merry since I'm going home soon.

I just need to talk to someone. Preferably a stranger who has not entered any circles.

Update:

My ATM card got eaten by the stooopid CIMB machine just by the bank. I was told to wait one hour and my flight is about the same time too. What a great sign to go home. FML?

Happy Boys and Girls

There has been a series of unforgettable event happening lately and most of them are too interesting to be published on a single entry. Even so, I just have no time to write them all nor even want to write due to the lack of enthusiasm that have started to attack me lately.

Time officially ran away from me. Ramadan is about to end really, really soon.

On Saturday, I was out with a bunch of orang putih kids whom I were with a week earlier in Teluk Chempedak. As you may be aware, I had post up about getting online on the beach at about 12am. It was amazing. Perhaps, let the photos do the talking now?

We start with Teluk Chempedak stuff for this entry, ok.

After completing a session we ran towards the beach. Little did we realize it was 3pm. We ran back. Talking on the phone left me exhausted and so there the photo was taken.

We played Untangled. And then, Masabele.

When the weather was not too hot we headed to the beach later that evening.

I had sand literally on my face after someone start smashing their shoes. That was not a pinch.

The beach was next to a jungle-like area. And so we met our new vulture friends.

Our buka puasa. Apparently, Frenchie-in-blue insist on fasting and so we were still hungry at midnight and grabbed some chickin'

Ultimately we found WIFI on the beach. That was one of the highlight.

I have to get ready for class. I was unconscious this morning and did not wake up.

Save Yvonne's Sight

My sincere apology of not being original for this entry; its all tagged, copy-paste from Vern's blog.

Anyone who keeps up with the news would have heard about our local heroine, Yvonne Foong and her battle against neurofibromatosis type II, which has severely affected her sight and hearing due to tumours in the brain and spine. She is scheduled for an operation between 1 and 4 December 2009. The cost of surgery is USD44,000 or RM154,770, and the cost of staying in hospital for two weeks is USD915 or RM3219.

She has raised about RM10,000 of this and is hoping to raise the rest by republishing her book I’m Not Sick; I’m Just a Bit Unwell in English and Chinese. The books are now available in Malaysian bookshops and from her web site store. She is also selling T-shirts at bazaars and via her web site store. Online donations can also be made via by clicking on this link. She keeps an online journal and you can read all about her amazing inspiring journey here.

You can also help by sending on this meme. If you do, please follow these meme rules:

  1. Create a blog entry titled “Meme: Save Yvonne’s Sight”
  2. List three things you love to see. Add in the picture of Yvonne’s book cover. The URL is http://www.yvonnefoong.com/images/banner/my-story.jpg
  3. End with the line, “Yvonne Foong is in danger of losing her eyesight thanks to neurofibromatosis (NF). Please find out how you can help her by visiting her blog at http://www.yvonnefoong.com.
  4. Tag 5 blog friends. Be sure to copy the rules, OK?
  5. If you have a Facebook account, please check out Ellen’s new invention, a “feme” pronounced FEEM, a meme designed for Facebook here. And if you want to blog about NF, that would be great too!
And so here's a list of 3 things I want to see;

1: The smile of joy of my family members and the friends I've befriended with as well the new significant bloggers I've befriended with
2: My missing cats and kitten coming home and not running away anymore.
3: Reliable people, with good intention by nature to help one another.

And I'm tagging whoever who would like to do a little of charity in the holy month of Ramadan.

For those of you who aren’t tagged, do feel free to help out by spreading the word. Perhaps, because of you, Yvonne gets to make a list of the things she loves to see too.

Life For Rent

On contrary of what I have mentioned earlier in the previous post in regards of my ever worry about deteriorating writing skills, I only worry more about being googled. I noticed on random hop, skip and jump away reading comments given by lecturer anonymously to the student feeling sorry and disappointed about the life the student has chosen; the personal views in my opinion includes such as political ideologies, principle of equal opportunities, ancestry, religious views disability, gender identity, sexual preferences, lifestyles and behaviors and the list goes on.

It should have been a free space, or ultimately a hidden dungeon of evil blabs about the worldly view.

Regardless of that, currently I believe those who are my friends on facebook are somewhat significantly important to me even to the value of less than 5%. Speaking of which, I could possibly stalk them too. Otherwise, I would be contemplating on whether to add or even perhaps ignore, which does not seems to happen yet because at present there are almost 730 friends, 129 friends request and 20 friends suggestion.

Why am I not accepting any of them, yet? I have second thoughts about personal privacy invasion having the fact my life relies on Facebook with all the Mails now going there as well as important Events and Groups I have to manage in order to keep in touch with certain important constituencies I'm involved with, voluntarily or not.

Now, FarmVille is just another addiction. Remember Harvest Moon: Back to Nature? I played that back in late primary school years, and played almost 3 years in real life, 6 years on gaming years. At the end of the day the stupid ol' PSone memory card got corrupted. Utter depression for a long, long period. I'm not a gamer by nature. The only computer game I played seriously was SimCity 4; which was another suggestion by good ol' school TechTv suggested by Leo Laporte if I'm not mistaken or so.

Freakishly enough, you could assume and stereotype what a kind of person a someone could be by looking at the mutual friends. One could be from same school while the other could explain about college but when you have at least 5-7 within the same interest group...

I have no idea what I've just blabed. This is just another insomnia effect I assume. I'm off to watch How I Met Your Mother season 2.

A meeting in the morning, then outing with the students and we will be having buka puasa dinner for 30 people in Nirvana, Bangsar. Yes. 30. We shall see how that will happen.

Pulling A Piano From A Pond

I have bad insomnia again. Its 3.24am now and my mum will wake me up at about 5am, of which I will get back to bed and wake up (if possible) by around 9am because I have class at 10am.

I will have a long weekend ahead.

I don't want to write anything, but I feel bored at this moment, besides waiting for the only time the internet being accessible and waiting for super duper slow loading.

(I'm ashamed of saying this but) Congratulation to Extreme Broadband Sdn Bhd for providing such impeccable internet services.

As usual, I don't expect comments from anyone though it would be nice to have some because then I would know what others would think. However, I need to know whether my writing is either gibberish or readable. I would deliberately reject on becoming a contributor for a new travel magazine if anyone would still believe I need to improvise more. I wouldn't want to embarrass myself on writing crap on a magazine circulating around the country. Blogging, however, is just another personal space to blabs all you want; as long nobody don't google you up.

I was googleable at once, until I shut down the previous blog which was then rather quite known but not popular thankfully. I don't want any fame. I just want to be me.

Thank You For The Venom

I officially hate my room's internet.

Its dead. Except now, if you could see this entry posted.

I'm going to get me self a Celcom broadband with Alcatel modem. Please stop me if you think its crap. Apparently this provider works ok-ok in campus, not as bad as Maxis. Even Maxis is horrendous now. It breaks when I talk, even while talking to my mum with our family package plan.

Gah. I hate Bolehland internet. If only it could be a click away. Its becoming slower and worse than that classic 1515 dial-up.

Vampire Weekend

The weekend ended great. I had WIFI on the beach in Teluk Chempedak. Its an amazing place to be at over the weekend. Believe it or not, there was KFC and McD and it operates 24 hours basis. Ironically, we had 3 students from USA besides one each from France, Venezuela, Portugal and 2 from Germany for our camp.

It was quite a rush in the morning and we arrived in the middle of the afternoon and settled down by late afternoon with few sessions and games. One thing I love about volunteering for camps is that we have games that is nothing like those orientation-ragging-game commonly happens in college.

We headed to the beach, had a jumping shot and later had buka puasa at a cafe by the beach. It was a good evening, and later we continued a bit on few sessions and headed back to the beach for supper. The KFC was awfully crowded at 12 midnight. We waited for at least 45 minutes to settle down before giving up on getting the food. It was I, and the Frenchie who waited still to get out snack plate since I've been craving for crispy unhealthy and yummy fried chicken with extra cheese cheezy wedges.

We headed to the beach and sat on the beach. The rest of the group were already there and while trying to settle my bump on the sandy beach under prettyful moonlight The (other) Mac Kid said, "Hey, I got WIFI!". This is better than I expected. WIFI on the beach. After finishing my gluttony desire over fried chicken and updating my Facebook status we headed back for an intense sessions of Mafia game. You know, that kind of game where there are mafias, doctor and investigator and everyone else are villagers and end up accusing one another after a death of a villager. It went intense after 5 rounds!

We headed back to the city on Sunday. It was a not exactly productive but more of a relaxing weekend too. I fell in love with Teluk Chempedak because of its isolation (not really) but more because it felt good to be back on beach. Also, perhaps Teluk Chempedak turns into Bukit Bintang at night made me utterly surprised how much people would be willing to be awake until 4am to be by the beach. Not exactly just couple, also families and friends and etc.

So its good to be on the beach. I grew up on an island, mind you!

Kokomo

This is amazing. I am leaving to Teluk Cempedak in about soon. I will be back tomorrow evening.

Lately, I have been having trouble sleeping and the entire time zone of my biological clock just do not work well anymore. Its either I'm up for sahur at 5am, and be late for 9am class which ends at 11am and eventually wake up at 11am itself or skip sahur and wake up on time.

My mum, the ultimate alarm clock is becoming more immune to me nowadays especially now that I'm away from her. The IKEA classic alarm clock my meatballs buddy gave me committed suicide about a month already and the 5 different alarms in the phone don't work well either. One funny thing that seems to happen lately is my mum would call me and here how the conversation goes;

Mak: "Awake yet?"
Me: "Yes, fresh and up"
Mak: "Ok, don't go back to sleep"
Me: "Alright"

And guess what? In less than a minute later, I would be crushed on my bed back into dreamland. I've been a nocturnal breed all my life. This is horrendous.

I need a hypnotherapist, or whatever associated with that job description. Any recommendations?

I've been getting text messages from this particular number and details are as mentioned. It came from the future, as it appears apparently and the time has 30 minutes extra beyond the regular 60 minutes cycle. Now, it doesn't make any sense since the messages were all empty. Could it be from the future? From myself, perhaps? Or maybe I want to send something to me, from the future?

In addition on what I mentioned in the previous post, yours truly will be featured in the local national television news either tonight; 4th or maybe the 6th. Thankfully, no one watches this boring channel. The reporter was such a [insert attitude verb] and [insert another one] most of the time which annoyed the heck out of everyone most of the time. I hope my part will be edited out too since I mumbled over the question; which was "What made you want to come back to Bolehland?"

I mean what the heck, since all exchange students were supposed to go home once the program ends. Irregardless, I do not have any television but if you happen to see me please let me know how horrendous I looked. I was interviewed right after I was munching my buka puasa and my face was all covered in oil and crap. I hate tv interviews.

I'm off to Teluk Cempedak over the weekend for a weekend getaway with newly recently arrived exchange students. My first time ever to that part of east coast besides the two conservative states back then when I was younger.

The Gulag Orkestar

This is going to be dreadful, long post. Brace yourself if you are even interested in this adventure.

I've been having rather interesting days lately. For a start, the ultimate IKEA meatballs partner-in-crime came home for a 6 days from Perth to celebrate Ramadan with her family. We've known each other because we went to Egypt together for 2 months and back then she was not as friendly as she is amazingly now.

We have always been having meatballs together in IKEA each time I go around that part of the state because it somewhat became our friendship annual monthly rituals. It became so serious to the point when she was in Beijing for Mandarin course for 3 months, I did not had any meatballs at all even to the point when I visited IKEA, I did not have any appetite to eat nor having thoughts of it at all. Anyway, I got home today with the meatballs. Although I did not have it there together with her due to fasting, its still significant enough to buy it with her. It made my day complete.

It was a short meet up with her but at least its still something. I went back earlier today and managed to get a piece of bubur lambuk from Masjid Jamek since I was on transit to Putra to Star (nevermind new names, I prefer the old names best). I started having it since Monday after a series of last minute adventure that took place that day.

On Monday, I woke up late as it was a public holiday. I eventually missed my breakfast in the morning as well. Being in college all alone was not entire fun thus at the very 11th hour I decided to get dressed and hop on the shuttle bus and off I went to the city. As I went out from the station I saw people carrying bags of porridge like and eventually it clicked my diluted brain of the sleepless night that; there is a mosque-in Ramadan there are free food giveaway! Off I went inside to grab a pack and moved on towards my next planned destination- CapSquare.

I had to walk through my mum ever favorite shopping arena and it was congested with aunties and uncles and little children hunting for their baju raya on the very public holiday. I had notification on my Google Reader that there was big sale on Hugo Boss, Emergildo Zegna and Tommy Hilfiger there. Much to my disappointment, there was only Cerutti blazers and a whole lot bunch of formal, oversized clothing which rather is not appropriate for my humble size. I did spot a John Galliano jeans in ladies department but that was it. Nothing else.

Truly disappointed, I headed then to the twin tower to hunt for the Zara shoes I saw back on Saturday in Pavilion. It was astonishingly ONLY 70 bucks. And I did not purchase it considering the fact it was not as perfectly looking and was a size bigger too. I have been contemplating on getting one and decided to see if there is any still available. Unfortunately, the twin tower branch of Zara has never been a particular favorite because the tall dude who works there is such snob. I left, jumped into Topman to browse and off to GAP as well. Neither any was considerably a good hunt.

Off I went to Pavilion. Nope. Its gone. Pfft.

Instead, I got myself a white short sleeve shirt and a red scarf. I knew it was not a great deal after all knowing I could have gotten any Zara shirt in Factory Outlet Store, however I was displeased with the misery of going all the way and thus got one anyway to please my ever crazy hunting adventure. I have been known as a scarf person with the big curly hair but lately, I have not been wearing any. It feels awkward too sometime.

It was almost time to break fast. I was all alone. I have spent too much for the day and decided to have the ever favorite mee goreng mamak in Jalan Alor (Whichever idiot initially wanted to rename it into Jalan Kejora is still a complete asshole). Coming from the great island that produces best hawker food in the country, this street of gastronomical adventure never disappoint, except there was more pork to offer than any Halal meal. Thankfully, there is one for me still.

I spent an hour inside the ghetto, lala mall for an hour before grabbing a dozen of Krispy Kreme and headed back to college later.

Yours truly will be featured on national television news on either the 4th or 6th. Watch out, I will explain more later.

I told you, this is a long dreadful post.
